We did 3 escapes.
1) When you're face down, do the mule kick to get rid of one hook, then roll onto your back and try to get half guard.

This is an early escape, before he starts choking you. It's important to remember that it matters which side you go to. You go to the side that his hand is pointing of the arm around your neck.
3) After he starts choking you, but before he has it really sunk, use both hands to grab his hand behind your head and pull it forward with the baseball bat grip. Start faking like you want to do the armbar. Pull his arm to the other side of your head and do the same escape as 2).
